I can see why people pay more for convenience.

Nice elastic waistband.
So today I pulled out the sewing machine and proceeded to patch a pair of Nick's shorts, cut off some too-short jeans and make them into cuffed capris (w/o the fur), fix a ripped stitch in my shorts, and cut off a hideously lengthed shirt/dress and re-hem it into a moderately cute shirt.

This set of projects, when you add in the mistakes, the recalculating lengths, the times my sewing machine jammed, took me 3 hours. I console by reminding myself that the shirt and too-short jeans cost me a grand total of $10 and I salvaged a good pair of shorts each for Nick and I, so I probably saved quite a bit of money, right? Right?

Yikes! Those aren't my shorts, though I could prolly start wearing them that short if you'd like (hello 80's).

Doing some quick estimates, new shorts would probably cost me about $20 on sale, will say the same for each your shorts and capris and $20 for your shirt. That comes to $80, minus the $10 you spend ahead of time. Over three hours that comes to $23.33 per hour.

That's some decent pay.

Thanks for fixing my shorts :-)
