um. . .

I fell asleep in my chair again last night. I need to stop doing that. For multiple reasons, not the least of which is that I wake up incredibly stiff from being curled in the fetal position for the hour or two it takes for me to regain consciousness and slouch off to bed.

A new reason to stop: it messes with my dreams.
I had the normal panic-inducing dreams about not meeting deadlines and being reamed out in front of the class/kicked out of the major.

Then I had a dream I was this guy. . .

. . . fully animated and being attacked by a robotic dog that Bruce Wayne (Batman Beyond's aging mentor) had sicked on me b/c he'd gone insane.

What's weird is I haven't seen, talked, or even thought about Batman in any form in over a month. So where is this coming from? I also had a dream about 2 1/2% milk. Who comes up with a whole dream based on a non-existent milk-fat grade?

Aren't dreams amazing? My dream self likes to imagine that its naturally good at athletic things (and other things too, but mostly athletic): snow skiing, soccer, jumping rope, walking... The depressing part arrives when I wake up and realize that the amazing run I just had down the double black diamond trail was in fact a figment of my imagination. In it's kind and generous nature, Reality sees fit to remind me that I wiped out on the bunny hill the one time I went skiing. "Rats," I say to myself, "I imagined that to be more fun."

I have a lot of dreams about being late for/not showing up for work because I didn't know I was supposed to be there.

I also have a lot of dreams about physical struggles. Generally, I'm pretty much a Peter Petrelli badass even though the bad guys don't seem to want to stay down either.

Last night, however, in my dream I turned in some mobster to the police and was standing vigil all night waiting for some of his underlings to come exact revenge at the Haus. Those are the ones where I try to wake up and fall back asleep for more pleasant dreams.
